Type 45 Destroyers - major In-Situ machining contracts awarded
Metalock Engineering UK Ltd has worked within the Fleet Support yard for many years on both commercial and
naval vessels and has been awarded a major In-Situ Machining contract by VT Shipbuilding on the new Type
45 Destroyer Project, which is now under way.
Subsequently, Metalock has also secured a further Type 45 contract, this time with BAE Systems, Scotstoun
for all the stern tubes, intermediate and aft ‘A’ frames, plummer blocks and propulsion motor/ thrust shaft
couplings. Metalock has now secured all the in-situ machining work for these MoD contracts involving vessels
one to six over the coming years.
Metalock Engineering’s in-situ machining and metal stitching expertise has served the marine industry throughout
the world since the company’s formation in 1947.
As a result Metalock Engineering UK is now a household name in the global marine world.
